  1. the first guy pretty much summed it up but

1.cross country is pretty much long distance running. races are 5k but at practice we never run less than that.

    2. your school is having tryouts?? most schools it is just a walkon sport and they are usually always in need of girls. eat healthy haha. before i run i usually have an english muffin with peanut butter and that keeps me going.

    3. if you live in a safe neighborhood you should be fine. if not, grab a friend and run together. 10min pace seems a little slow. whne we do are 7mile runs we go at about 9min.

    4. cross train, swim, stretch, weight train

  2. 1. Cross Country a.k.a XC, is an AWESOME sport where you run outside and get dirty and have fun. IT involves lots of training. Each race is 3.1 miles exactly.

    2. Don't eat fast food, candy, or sodas while you run...dont eat for 2 hours before yourun, or you'll cramp and probably vomit. it suuuckss. Pasta is good, granola, good cereal thats not too sugary, just dont over do it.

    3. you should try to run outside to get a feel for it because treadmill and outside are two VERY different things. But if you insist...go for about 10 minutes one day, then 15, then 20, then 25, then 30, until you get to 45. that should do it...do less if you feel out of shape though. DONT PUSH IT! Be sure to stretch a LOT.

    4. ab work! you need to strengthen your core which helps your running ability quite a lot. here's a few exercises.

    1. crunches

    2. romans...or V sit up.

    3. planks (on forearms and toes) 1 minute

    4. side planks (elbows )45 seconds

    5. russian twists...sit like a v and tap on each side for one minute. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHzVABv8O...

oh and get new running shoes froma specialty store!

  3. 1. Cross Country is a sport in high school, it is mainly running. A meet is usually 3 miles long, sometimes with hills.

    2. I say you eat 3/4 of the amount of what you usually eat, should should eat a lot of carbs, such as rice, pasta and such, and DRINK A LOT OF WATER TODAY AND THROUGHOUT TOMORROW, so you don't get dehydrated in the heat. But don't drink too much water, then it starts bouncing in you stomach, about 1 hr before practice, stop drinking water.

    3. You usually don't make the team you join it, anybody fast or slow can join. First of all, beginning practice will be warm up, usually about half a mile or so, then you will do stretches, after you will do drills, that help loosen up your muscles so they don't get tight. Then you will run, usually 3-6 miles a day, depending on how fast you are. After your done running, you will then do stretches again, so they won't get tight later on. After you will probably do a few sets of sprints, or speed workouts, lungees and such, and then core workout, then that will be the end of practice.

4.. Do a lot of core workouts and muscle workouts.
