Cricket http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 said on Friday that Kirsten would remain involved in team selection and other managerial activities, but he would effectively take a back-seat role in the shortest format of the game.
Domingo’s first assignment as the national T20 coach will be the three-match home series against New Zealand, starting in Durban on December 21, 2012. “I believe this decision is a positive move to creating a more sustainable and balanced coaching approach,” Kirsten said. “It's common best-practice around the world, and we feel it will give us the platform to spread our coaching resources efficiently,” added the Proteas’ head coach.
Cricket South Africa’s acting chief executive Jacques Faul also welcomed the appointment, hailing Domingo as the unsung hero behind the Proteas’ success over the past 12 months.
“Russell has been one of the unsung heroes behind the Proteas success over the past year and this is a natural progression for him to be given this added responsibility,” Jacques Faul commented.
“I congratulate http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Russell-c87177 on his appointment which is well merited and know that he will make an important contribution to the continued success of the Proteas,” he added further.
