CSKA Moscow and Montepaschi Siena record wins: Euroleague Basketball January 25th review
CSKA Moscow Vs Anadolu Efes 96-68:
CSKA Moscow have not lost a single game in the Euroleague 2011-12 so far.
They finished with the best record, 10-0, in the regular season and in their first game of the top 16 they successfully overpowered Olympiacos. On Wednesday night, they extended their unbeaten record in the tournament by routing
Anadolu Efes 96-68.
Efes put up a good fight in the first frame but in the next one, CSKA changed gears and outscored Efes 25-15 to gain command of the game. Things got only worse for Efes in the third frame as CSKA’s defence was too strong for them
to penetrate and therefore they were again outscored 26-17.
The outcome of the game had already been decided by the end of the third frame as Moscow had acquired a mammoth 21 point lead and a comeback by Efes looked out of question.
Moscow continued the onslaught in the deciding quarter and in the end won by a 28 point margin.
Former NBA player Andrei Kirilenko led the CSKA with 15 points and 8 boards while Nenad Kristic accumulated 14. Milos Teodosic had 13 points whereas Alexey Shved and Viktor Khryapa amassed 11 apiece.
Sasha Vujacic led the Efes’s offense with a game high 21 points on 7 for 9 from the floor whereas Stanko Barac bundled 15.
Real Madrid Vs Montepaschi Siena 69-88:
What a night it was for Montepaschi Siena and its fans.
Real Madrid came into this game as the clear favourites but not only did they lose, the style in which they did so was quite remarkable.
Madrid looked completely offbeat throughout the 40 minutes and never, at any instance, dominated the game. Siena on the other hand, were explosive right from the word go, and after finishing the first frame with a 16 point lead
31-15, they never looked back.
The intensity of the drubbing was such that the lead never came down to single digits. In fact it hovered around 20 points throughout. Madrid showed some urgency in the earlier phase of the deciding quarter and brought down the
deficit to 10 points 68-58, however what followed next was a complete Montepaschi Siena show as they kept attacking and won the game in a great style.
Bo McCalebb paced Siena with 25 points while Ksistof Lavrinovic accumulated 16 on 4 for 6 from the long range. David Andersen netted 11 along with 7 rebounds and David Moss chipped in with 10 points.
Felipe Reyes scored 17 points for the Spanish giants along with 15 rebounds whereas Jaycee Carroll drained 12 points. No other player managed to end with scores in double figures.
