Leonid Slutsky has backed Ahmed Musa to score more goals and has commented on Mario Fernandez after the side's massive 3-1 win in the Russian Premier League tie against Kuban Krasnodar
CSKA Moscow retained the top-spot on the Russian Premier League table with a comfortable 3-1 win in the latest league tie against Kuban Krasnodar at Stadion Kuban on Saturday.
But history is evident that the Armeytsy have failed to protect their lead atop the league table as they tend to drop points in the later stages of the competition.
Last season, they remained on the driving seat to win silverware until the third and last round of the Russian championship when they were leapfrogged by Zenit.
The Koni head coach, Leonid Slutsky, has blasted the Moscow-based club’s critics, saying that his side is more than capable of handling the pressure of being at the top and admitted that the Russian outfit has fallen on hard times.
The fact that the Army-Men have recorded more points as compared to the rest of the clubs in the Russian outfit makes Slutsky a happy man, who has hailed his side’s latest win against the Krasnodar-based club and urged the Muscovites
to win extend their decent run domestically.
Slutsky went on to salute his players especially, Ahmed Musa, following a virtuoso display against a side led by Yuri Krasnozhan.
“It was really difficult game. We played better football and deserved victory. The game was full of moments that we were able to implement. I believe we had more chances, so we deserved. It is a pleasure to complete fall of the
championship in the first place.”
“Musa played brilliantly today. I hope he will score more goals in the upcoming matches.”
“Kuban are a very good team that with the advent of Krasnozhan began to play more diverse with more different tactical schemes.” The former Uralan Elista manager was quoted as saying.
When asked about Mario Fernandes absence, Slutsky revealed that he wanted to rest the Brazilian defender for their next league tie against Amkar Perm on Sunday.
