The Koni are keen to bring AZ Alkmaar midfielder to the Russian Premier League, with the club’s director general hopeful of a deal to go through in less than a week
CSKA Moscow are ready to make their second signing of the summer transfer window by offering an escape route to the talented and versatile midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AZ-c38571 Alkmaar.
Having already signed Mario Fernandez from Gremio for the upcoming Russian Premier League campaign, Roman Babaev now wants to bolster his squad after making a move for the Swede international.
CSKA’s director general has confirmed that the Armeytsy are on the verge of signing the 24-year-old midfielder after talking to the Dutch club’s representatives.
“Negotiations are indeed in the final stage, but we will not confirm the transfer until a contract is signed.” Babaev was quoted as saying.
There is little arguing to the statement that Elmo has managed to impress last season, having scored 10 goals and making nine assists in 32 league appearances.
Reports in Russian media tell that representatives from CSKA Moscow have gone to Holland in order to negotiate the transition fee for the versatile midfielder whose contract expires at the end of next year.
If speculations are to be believed, CSKA tried to sign Elm during the winter transfer window. However, they failed to meet Alkmaar’s valuation for the player at that time. As things stand, the Dutch side is reportedly holding out
for a fee between 5-7 million Euros.
Fiorentina and Hamburg have also showed an interest in the prolific midfielder. However, they are yet to make a formal approach for the player, leaving CSKA as the front runners to get Elm’s signatures.
Elm, who has earned enough respect as one of the best free kick takers in Europe, is also ready to switch his current club for the Russian outfit to reunite with his compatriot, Pontus Wernbloom, at Luzhniki stadium.
Wernbloom had expressed his desire to see Elm at the Moscow-based club. He said: “I cannot talk too much on this topic but if Elm joins me, I will be happy.”
