In the aftermath of the outcome, Evgeni Giner has hailed the latest win against their arch-rivals and admitted that they deserved to win. The Russian national admitted that CSKA took their chances well in a closely contested match.
He urged the Koni to extend their decent domestic run if they are to win the league title this season. As things stand, CSKA are at the second spot on the league table and 6 points adrift of the league leaders, Zenit.
The President went on to admit that CSKA will find it difficult to match the St. Petersburg club domestically, revealing that Zenit are playing quality football at the moment.
“Zenit are a very good team. I saw their game against Dynamo, when they literally tore the white and blue. They really are strong but we will fight for the championship until the last match.” Giner was quoted as saying.
Giner urged the Moscow-based club to focus on their upcoming fixtures rather than expecting Zenit to drop more points in their respective games.
Speaking on CSKA’s UEFA Champions League defeat against Real Madrid, Giner lamented the situation; however, he told the Moscow-based club to keep their heads up despite their humiliating European exit.
