CSKA Moscow hailed after clinching Russian Premier League title – Football news
Senior sports analyst, Evgeny Lovchev, has congratulated CSKA Moscow after they claimed their fourth Russian Premier League title ever since the inception of the Russian Championship.
Saturday’s 0-0 draw against Kuban Krasnodar at Luzhniki stadium did not do any harm to Leonid Slutsky’s men, who were mentally prepared to claim a point out of the league fixture in order to confirm them the front runners to reclaim the league title after
six years.
As things stand, they are at the top spot on the league table with 64 points and just three points ahead second placed Zenit St. Petersburg with a game remaining until the end of the ongoing campaign.
However, Luciano Spalletti’s troops do not have a chance to stun the world after making a late comeback regardless of what happens in the final game of the season because CSKA have recorded more wins as compared to the St. Petersburg club this season.
“CSKA is huge club and they have proved that over spending is not necessary for winning the league title. They have surpassed Anzhi and Zenit despite struggling financially. CSKA carefully spend money, watches over the financial balance and gently buy the
needed players,” he said.
“Winning the championship will give them satisfaction, and will bring significant finances to invest for their participation in the Champions League. They have once again proved that they are the best capital club. I think this victory is an indication that
money cannot buy everything. I think Slutsky signed decent players to make his dream come true,” Lovchev was quoted as saying.
There is little arguing to the statement that Anzhi Makhachkala and Zenit St. Petersburg have overspent on players during the last two years.
The Dagestani club invested over 100 million Euros to sign Samuel Eto’o, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/SL-Benfica-c40542 respectively.
Lovchev went on to urge the Moscow-based club to continue with the same spirit next season.
