Roman Babaev has confirmed that the Russian outfit has signed Elm from AZ Alkmaar and hints at Pavel Mamayev’s possible departure during the summer transfer window
CSKA Moscow director general, Roman Babaev, has confirmed that the Moscow-based club have signed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rasmus-Elm-c30628 for a collective fee of six million Euros from AZ Alkmaar, despite facing stiff competition from a host of European clubs.
Elm signed a three-year contact at Luzhniki stadium after agreeing personal terms recently.
Reports in Russian media had linked the 24-year-old midfielder with Bayern Leverkusen, AC Milan and Tottenham Hotspur. However, none of the aforementioned clubs lodged a formal bid for the midfield sensation.
Elm preferred to join the Russian Premier League club, knowing that he can get more playing time in Russia. The Swede preferred to play at a comparatively small stature club than to sit on the bench at a highly reputed European
club.
Babaev insisted that the Moscow-based club endured a tough competition for the prolific midfielder for whom they were interested since the winter transfer window. CSKA failed to get Elm’s signatures in January as they could not
agree a fee with the Dutch outfit last term.
“Negotiations on Elm were not very easy. Certain difficulties were related to the fact that the player had other offers from Italian and English clubs. Therefore, we are pleased to have won this fight. The conditions proposed by
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AZ-c38571 proved to be more than adequate.”
“Problems arose only because of the fact that Rasmus wanted to sign a long term deal. In short, we are pleased to sign player which is on top of his game at the moment. The amount is slightly higher, but overall, this figure corresponds
to a total of six million approximately.” CSKA’s general director was quoted as saying.
Commenting on Pavel Mamayev’s expected departure during summer, Babaev told that they are waiting for offers for the Russian defensive midfielder. He, meanwhile, insisted that they will not rush the young midfielder out of the
team unless the player will express a desire to leave.
