CSKA Moscow turned down FC Porto's offer, says Vagner Love – Liga Sagres News
According to CSKA Moscow star, Vagner Love, the club rejected an offer from FC Porto for his services although he would prefer a move to another league at this stage of his career to test his abilities.
FC Porto have been on the lookout for a top-quality striker ever since the departure of their inspirational star, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Radamel-Falcao-c30276, to Atletico Madrid.
The Colombian International was arguably the greatest goal threat at Estadio do Dragao, netting an incredible 38 times during the highly successful 2010/2011 season. However, in a turn of events, Falcao shocked the footballing fraternity by seeking a transfer
to Atletico, who had not even qualified for the UEFA Champions League.
But nonetheless, the attacker parted ways with the Portistas and the left the club hanging with a €50 million transfer kitty. Although armed with a quite large war chest, manager Vitor Pereira has not made any marquee signings and is targeting lesser known
players with potential to become one of the best.
One of the front men the Portuguese outfit have had on their radar is Vagner Love, who is currently plying his trade with CSKA Moscow in the Russian Premier League. The Selecao International has never played in Europe and it was thought that he could be
acquired rather easily.
However, according the 27-year-old himself, the Dragon’s proposal was rejected by his current employers, who deemed it far lower than their valuation of their coveted asset.
"Porto made an offer, which was considered low by CSKA. There is no news so far, but we will wait for this next week.”
Love then revealed that he was open to the prospect of a switch and harboured grandiose ambitions of playing for a top side, where he would be able to challenge for European honours, something which he hadn’t achieved in his seven years in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Russia-c2991.
“I have been here for seven years; it would be good to breathe new air. I have the ambition to win titles in other countries, to win a Champions League. CSKA Moscow have a good team, but it will be hard to win a Champions League here.
"I have ambitions and I would like to go somewhere else,” the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Flamengo-c39361 man was quoted as saying.
The financial details of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186’s failed bid are yet to be revealed by either side, but it is widely expected that they would not have offered more than €5 million for a player, who has not tested his abilities against the cream of Europe.
However, the Dragons are currently lacking incisiveness in attack, something which Vagner Love could duly add to the side, and armed with a large transfer budget they are likely to comeback with an improved offer to land their man.
