Alexander Bridge believes that Zenit St Petersburg, Anzhi Makhachkala and Spartak Moscow will give the side tough competition in the race to win Russian Premier League title
Though CSKA Moscow are at the top spot on the Russian Premier League table, it will be too early to make conclusions about either they will win the league title or not given that they failed to win the league title last year despite
retaining the leading spot until last round.
The Moscow-based club were denied a chance to win their fourth league title as they were leapfrogged by the likes of Zenit St. Petersburg and Spartak Moscow after dropping points in the last round.
Alexander Bridge has insisted that the Moscow-based club will face immense competition from defending champions, Zenit and mega-rich Dagestani club, Anzhi Makhachkala, in their quest to claim their fourth league title ever since
the inception of Premier League.
Though CSKA are leading the standings with 36 points, they are leading Zenit and Anzhi by just 3 points.
Bridge revealed that it will just be a matter of time before Anzhi and Zenit will surpass the side as the aforementioned teams could not concentrate on the domestic season due to their involvement in European competitions.
And Bridge is of the belief that the aforementioned sides will give CSKA a tough time when they will start focusing on their domestic campaign after the winter break in the Russian championship.
"I think that CSKA managed to take first place by the will of the calendar as all the main contenders are playing in European competitions. Their elimination from the Europa League has given them hope to fight in the Russian championship.”
“I think that the Armeytsy will find it difficult to retain the top spot as they have a habit to losing it at crucial stages.  I think Zenit and Anzhi have decent players and their composition is certainly higher than that of CSKA.”
The 44-year-old was quoted as saying.
Bridge went on to insist that the Moscow-based club need to find consistency in their performances if they are to end their wait for silverware.
