CSKA Moscow's Keisuke Honda 'wants move to big club'
CSKA Moscow's Keisuke Honda is looking for a move to a bigger club, according to his agent.
The Japan international had been linked with a move away from the Russian Premier League after impressing at the 2010 FIFA World Cup, but he decided to stay with CSKA.
However, Kees Ploegsma has said that the 24-year-old is keen to show off his talents on a bigger stage.
"When a big club comes in he will want to leave but at the moment that has not happened. There were opportunities to move but he has not had the offer from a top club, which is what we want. A lot of managers
will be watching him after he played so well at the World Cup — now they can watch him more for CSKA and hopefully they will decide to try and do something in January,” he told Sport.co.uk.
Ploegsma added that no club has registered a formal interest in acquiring Honda’s talents, while CSKA are keen to hang on to the player for the time being.
'Honda playing well'
He said that: "The club are not looking to sell the player at this moment, certainly not. He is playing well and he is doing a job for the club and they are happy. In January we will see, but at the moment
we know nothing of concrete interest. But we will have to see which clubs need new players and who is officially interested."
Honda came to prominence when he scored two goals at the World Cup in South Africa, including a 30-yard free-kick against Denmark. He also picked up two Man of the Match awards at the tournament.
He spoke earlier this year that he dreamed of playing at Real Madrid, whom he was linked with a move to, while several other big European clubs such as Arsenal, Liverpool and AC Milan were also credited
with an interest in him.
