In the latest round of Russian Premier League action, CSKA Moscow thumped Spartak Nalchik 4-0 at Luzhniki stadium. In the aftermath of the outcome, the Koni striker, Seydou Doumbia, has revealed his satisfaction on his goalscoring form.
After scoring three goals against the Orly, Doumbia has now become the Russian Premier League leading goal scorer. His rich form has seen him score eight goals from the last four matches.
The victory has now placed CSKA well within the range of UEFA Champions League places for next season, but Doumbia refuses to be drawn on the recent result and urged his teammates to stretch the good run.
“I think this is the right time to gear up before the decisive matches of the Champions League. I'm in good shape, hoping to continue scoring on and on.” The Russian Cup winner was quoted as saying.
The Armeytsy have been drawn against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Trabzonspor-c40759 and OSC Lille in the group stages of the Champion League. Having claimed a 3-0 win against the Turkish club recently, CSKA are at the second spot on the group table.
The 23-year-old revealed that the Koni are working hard under Leonid Slutsky and assured the fans of another win against Trabzonspor in the upcoming group stage game at home.
Doumbia is of the belief that CSKA are hitting top form at the moment and tipped the Russian outfit to progress to the later stages of the European competition.
Reports in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Russia-c2991 suggest that a host of top European clubs are interested in signing the former Young Boys forward in the upcoming winter transfer window. Doumbia has remained tightlipped over these transfer speculations.
“At the moment I'm focused on the successful performance for CSKA Moscow in the Russian Premier League and Champions League. And then we'll see.” Doumbia concluded.
The Army-Men are currently at the second spot on the league table and trail the league leaders, Zenit St. Petersburg, by two points.
