Question:

CURLING EYE LASHES - Advice please!??

Hi,

I always put my liquid eyeliner (Estee Lauder double wear Zero Smudge eyeliner) on my top lash line, let it dry, and then try and Curl my Lashes with a LashCurler.

My lashes either get really crinkly, and don't have a nice curl upwards; or when I use the curler (as close as possible to the lash line) it takes away half of my eyeliner!! I've tried putting liner on after doing this, but that makes my lashes a globby mess (as the liquid liner gets all over my lashes), and it isn't neat and close to the lash line.

I don't know whether its my order of application, my technique, my eyeliner or my lash-curler. Can anyone help or give suggestions please??

Thanks xx

  1. start curling your lashes at the bottom and pulse the curler as you mave upwords. this will give you a natural looking curl

  2. Loreal has a great mascara called Panoramic Curl.  It curls your eyelashes for you.  If that doesn't give you the curl you are looking for, try heating your eyelash curler with your blow drier.  Mascara doesn't stick to curler, and eyeliner contact is shorter.  Be CAREFUL not to heat the curler too much.  It takes a little practice, but works very well.

  3. Try some heated curlers

ive seen some that are sorta like combs so dont need to even touch your eyelid therefore wont ruin your eyeliner :) plus the effect lasts longer so your lashes wont go flat, oh yea and cos you curl them in this way your lashes dont get crinkly either. hope this helps x

  4. blink while putting it mascara on it makes them curl up and beautiful? .........=)

  5. put on ur liner how u usually would and then use a metal *not plastic* eyelash curler with a rubber thing on it so it wont break of ur lashes! dont curl them really close to the lash liner but about in the middle*maybe a little closer to the lash line but still in the middle somewhere* and they will definitly curl skyhigh! then apply some curling mascara Covergirl works for me and doesnt clump...then curl one more time very gently! this works awesome and usually stays very well! Good Luck!

  6. Ok, so ur eyeliner smudges when you curl ur eyelashes--try putting a little black eyeshadow on over your eyeliner line to help prevent smudging.  That way, when you curl your lashes, the shadow comes off--leaving your eyeliner intact.

Curling your eyelashes is kinda tough, but practice makes perfect ;D.  Try setting the top part of the curler on your lid and getting it as close as you can to the base of your lashes.  Then open and close the curler 3 times, holding it for around 1 to 2 seconds each time.  The opening and closing rapidly will help spread the curl through your lashes and the curler will curl more evenly.  Then run a mascara wand lightly through your lashes with a lengthening and volumizing mascara--waterproof formula almost always works the best.

Good luck and i hope that wasn't too confusing :)

  7. Your eyelashes are crunchy cause you are doing it backward.

Curl your eyelashes then apply your mascara to hold the curl. I recommend picking up Mabelline's Great Lash Blackest Black Mascara (look for the pink tube with a green top), available almost anywhere..Wal Mart, Target, Walgreens, etc...

After that apply your eyeliner. Or before your mascara.  Which ever you feel more comfortable doing.

I like a simple metal lash curler, I feel they work the best. (I don't know if you have this style or a bulkier plastic one, if so pick up a new one thats metal, its smaller therefore less likely to smudge.)

Also, make sure your eyelashes are clean and dry when you curl, left over make up from yesterday could be causing this as well.

The key is to curl before product though.

  8. i cant answer all those questions but i have heard that to curl your eylashes you put the curler at your roots, then again in the middle and then once more towrds the end and it mkaes a better curl....im pretty sure i heard that on what not to wear ...ive never tried it though

  9. I have very short thin lashes and they are very difficult. Although when I curl them I can fake full lashes by following these steps. I put on a pencil liner first- curl my lashes before applying mascara- this usually takes off some of the liner so I reapply then apply my 1st coat of mascara and separate the lashes with a push pin. Then I curl again. Reapply my liner this time with both pencil and liquid-(pencil 1st, liquid 2nd)-separate the lashes again.... apply my 2nd coat of mascara-curl(again) and of course separate..... it's seems time consuming but it's really not that bad. And worth it trust me.

    Hope that helps a bit...

  10. your eyeliner shouldn't be coming off when you curl your eyelashes.. so try another eyeliner!

  11. Try curling your eyelashes at the roots. And if the eyeliner comes off, you should use a different kind or something...it shouldn't come off!

  12. Apply eye shadow and eyeliner, allowing it to dry before curling your lashes. Mascara is always applied after curling the lashes to avoid lash breakage and smearing.

Ensure that your lashes are clean and dry. Trying to curl wet lashes could result in the "bent lashes" look.

Open the curler and place your upper lashes inside its mouth. Close your eye slightly, then open it; all of the lashes should move into the curler's mouth. Always hold the eyelash curler so that the mouth is parallel to your lashes.

Move the curler closer to the eye until the tool comes to the base of the lashes, but not over the skin of the eyelid.

Keep the eye open and slowly close the curler. Your eyelashes should fan out evenly across the upper bar. If at any time you feel pinching, readjust the curler.

Hold the closed curler for a slow count of five, keeping your hand and face steady. Repeat for additional volume.

    Repeat with the other eye.

Practice. This beauty enhancer takes a little getting used to.

Clean any eye makeup off of the curler regularly and replace the curler pad every few months.

To avoid the "bent" lashes look, use the curler at multiple segments along the length of your lashes so that each "bend" is softened and work together to curl your lashes up in a smooth arc. To do this, start at the base of your lashes, then release slightly and move the curler away from you a little and clamp it again, and so on.

Never pull the curler away from your face when it's clamped onto your lashes, as this may pull your lashes out of your lid.

Never share your eyelash curler with anyone or borrow anyone else's. You CAN get infections. It may seem like one of those things that will never happen to you, but it can and will if you share curlers, mascara, or eye brushes. Also, if you think you might have an eye infection, get it treated because they can, although it's very rare that they will, cause blindness if, and only if, they are left untreated.
