Newcastle United midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Yohan-Cabaye-c37423 is excited by the prospect of European football with the club this season, and is targeting a place in the Europa League quarterfinals.
Newcastle are currently faced with a number of problems; a congested fixture list, injuries to key players and a tough clash with Tottenham Hotspur at home this Saturday.
The Magpies were in really good shape in pre-season, and are considered as favourites for the top 4, with many putting them ahead of Tottenham in the running for a Champions League place. The club has signed impressive youngsters; the likes of Curtis Good,
Gael Bigirimana and Romain Amalfitano have arrived at Tyneside, and manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew is still in the market for more players.
However, injuries to key players before the competitive season has even started may prove to be a huge problem. Pardew currently faces the prospect of losing players such as Cheick Tiote, Yohan Cabaye, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Demba-Ba-c10812 for their Premier League
opener against Tottenham at home.
The club then has a Europa League fixture where they travel to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786.
Cabaye is however not fazed by this increasingly hectic and congested fixture list and is only focused on succeeding with the club. Having helped previous club Lille to the knock-out stages of the competition two years in a row, the midfielder is no stranger
to playing in Europe.
This experience has left Cabaye hungry and determined to do better with Newcastle and the player has set a minimum target of reaching the quarterfinals with the Magpies. Speaking to the press, he said:
"I have experience in Europe but I hope to go further with Newcastle. With Lille we made it into the last 16 but with Newcastle, I think we can actually go further than that. We can do better than that, I'm sure.”
"We have very good players who can prove themselves in Europe. These are players who believe in themselves.”
“The Europa League missed me last season. We had a great season last season and we deserve to play in European competition. We wanted to play in the Champions League but the last two games cost us everything. However, the Europa League is good as well, it
is nice to be back in it.”
