  1. Don't!  Glorified waiters in the sky nothing more and most airlines treat their staff like dirt.  Why not have a career rather than a job.

  2. Get in with the big airlines - Quantas, BA, Virgin, Continental if you can etc.  Competition will be tough, but I can imagine thats far better than Ryan Air or Easyjet.

Look in the back on womens magazines (the last few pages frequently have Ads for newbies to the industry).

Experience in a customer driven environment is a good start - have you worked in a restaurant, shop, etc?

You may need to do a couple of intense 6 week classes, in which you may learn about Fares & Ticketing (I previously did a BA Fares and Ticketing course).

Its not all glam - you will start on the domestic short haul journeys; i.e. London -> Manchester/Scotland, and because they are so short, you may be doing 3-4 round trips per day!  But if you like to be around people, its a great job to have.

If you work hard, you will get to travel internationally, maybe after a few years.

Ignore the people who go on about "its a glamourised waitress job" - so what if it is!!!  Since when was working hard and enjoying yourself, and seeing the world a crime.  Sure, its not rocket science, but you'll get to see and go places many people wont ever get the chance.  And not everyone is cut out go to University and get a degree in History - that doesn't make you any less of a person.

Do be cautious of the financial situation of airlines, many in the US are constantly on the edge of bankruptcy, some are better than others like Continental who seem to be one of the few US based profitable airlines.
