Alrighty, so:

-had problems with NetCore router (intermittent/slow signal)

-bought new one today

-it claims up to 12x faster and 4x farther than wireless g

-not happening.

ISP: Rogers (Cable)

Modem: WebStar (Scientific Atlanta) DPC2100R2

Router: D-Link DIR-625 (Wireless-N Rangebooster)

Speed on computer that's connected directly to modem: 100Mbps

Speed on laptop (via wireless): 54Mbps

My laptop is right beside me, and therefore, the router. :/ And yet the speed is pretty much cut in half.

Any ideas? They are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! :)

  1. It sounds like your laptop has a Wireless "G" chipset - so 54 Mbs is as fast as wireless will go.

In order to get "N" speed, all components must be "N". You can upgrade your laptop by purchasing an "N" wireless adapter.
