  1. I had cable and now have DirecTV.  DirecTV is great, and unlike the other person, my signal only goes abotu 1-2 times a yeax, in the absolute worst of the worst storms.  The rest of the time is no problem.  Good serive, and way more HD channels than cable or Dish.  Get the HD DVR Player, its worth it to have HD and a DVR on the same channel.

  2. We left cable for Dish Network about 9 years ago and will not go back.  We have lost the signal maybe 5 times in 9 years and then only for about three minutes in VERY heavy thunderstorms.  It is a lot more dependable than cable ever was.  The local cable company was always having some sort of problem with losing a line amp, or someone hitting a pole, etc.

Also, I can only remember two rate hikes.  Cable has gone up almost every year.  We pay about $96/month for about 300 channels, movie channels and locals.

  3. Well, I went from Cable to Satellite about 2 years ago, and well...i'll never go back. The PQ on satellite is a lot better, all their channels are 100% digital. Not to mention DirecTV's HD lineup BLOWS cable out of the water. Last I checked, they now total a whopping 95 Channels in HD, while cable maxes out at about 40 I believe. if you live in an area with severe weather (hurricanes, blizzards, tornados) you might get some wheather issues. I live in southern california, so it's not an issue. It has poured cats and dogs on several occasion and I never lost the signal. Satellite tends to be a little more expensive, but you get a lot better PQ and selection. (if you're a football fan, DirecTV's NFL SUNDAY TICKET is a MUST HAVE!!) Hope this helps.

  4. i agree with wowbango I will never ever go back to cable after dealing with Directv.  There always there to help you.  The Picture is so much clearer 100% Ddigital.  I have a surround system hooked up and it is fantastic when i can just go from one channel to the next and they all sound great.

I would absolutely recommend leaving cable, and going to Directv and the best part of the whole thing I cut my tv bill in  half and get more channels, and Way better customer service.

I Will never forget the day I called comcast and told them i was tired of paying there high prices and they told me there was nothing they can do for me.

So That was it I left and will never go back!

  5. i have had directv for about 12 years now, and it never goes out.

the only times it does is if there is a blizzard out.

    thats it.

and you get more HD channels. and it is brodcasted in 1080, and more stations are digital

also, the customer support is WAY better, because they are national and #1 in that i beleive

oh, and the main reason i will not go back it because of the HD 1080, (as oposed to 720 in cable), and NFL sunday ticket !!!!!!!

  6. I had direct tv for a while and everytime it rained it went out.  I switched to dish network and never lose my signal.  I love it although I hear digital cable is really comming along.

  7. DISH Network all the way.

I wouldn't do with anything else.

I've tried Direct TV and cable and they are absolutely awful compared to DISH.  The DISH DVR is THE BEST EVER.  I don't understand why anyone would put up with anything else.
