  1. When a problem is this persistent then you are looking in the wrong place. The problem could be either

The cable box - No longer likely.

The cable - No longer likely.

The Channel - If you are experiencing this problem specifically on certain channels then your issue is with the networks digital transmission

The receiver - You might have a bad optical input. Not likely but to check switch the input to a different one and test again.

The signal - fairly likely. If you have a bad cable comming from the wall to the box OR if there are old cables in the wall you might have to have the home rewired. OR you might be if a neighborhood that is spread too thin cablewise. Ask your neighbors if they have the same problem.

Then again you could just switch to DirecTV and get way more HD channels.

  2. This is a delay built into the receiver.  If your recevier supports it try setting the delay on it to  .1 or .2.  This might not be possible with your receiver, but that is where the problem is.  Most new receivers have this featuer built in to correct the problem.

  3. Hey Meg.

You going to tell us what this persistent issue is any time soon so we have a clue how to answer?

  4. Get a DVD player with optical output and connect it with the cable from the cable box. This will help you find out which side your trouble is on, cable box side or home theater side. If it's the cable side you won't be able to reproduce the symptoms with the DVD. If it is the home theater you will still have the trouble.
