  1. Yes you can. You will need 3 rj45 cables to do this. Take the first cable and go from the modem to the WAN port of the router or hub. Do not use the "Uplink" port. That is for if you need to add another hub or router to the network. The next cable will go from the port marked "1" on the router, and the other end will go to the ethernet port on your computer. Take the third cable and insert it into port "2" on the router, and the other end of the cable will go to the ethernet port on the 2nd computer.

You will then need to install, and follow the prompts on the software for the router, so that the router will recognize the computer's attached to the router.

    Good luck!

  2. Well, I hate to say this but it isn't going to work. All the 2wire routers that I have ever seen are DSLmodems/routers meaning that the WAN input (internet) is into a phone connection.

To route for a cable modem you need a router with an ethernet WAN port and the 2wire units do not have that.  These are great DSL routers but only for use with DSL lines!

You can get all the manuals and help at http://2wire.com  but you won't find any way to connect to a cable modem!

    Add:

Unless it is a very old  100, 171, 180, 270, 271 models do NOT have a DSL modem and are designed for use with external modems.  Then you just hook it up!

    Sorry.

  3. If you mean by 2 Wire you mean wire called Twisted Pair, that is the wire that goes from the wall jack to the modem.

If you have cable then the cable wire will go to the modem.

The wire that goes from the modem to the router is regular ethernet.

From the router to the computer is also regular ethernet.

Unless you have a router with wireless capabilities, then your laptop or computer would not need hard wire to the WIRELESS router.

So, yes you can use ethernet cable between modem and router.
