Cable remote does not work initially when powered on?

Question

I have a Sharp Aquos 46" LCD and a Scientific Atlanta HD DVR cable box. When you power up the cable remote will adjust the volume only. After an unknown time (perhaps 15-30 minutes) the cable remote functions as it is intended: volume, channels, menus, etc.

ether it needs new battery's or it is defective call your cable provider to get a new one
