Anyone been to these places directly or through a cruise line? What are good excursions ideas, places to see, are there any cliff diver spots or cheap bars that is comfortable and in a enjoyable setting? Can you get into any of the resorts in any of these 3 stops and enjoy a few hours at their pools? Any specifc names would be great!

Thanks in advance.

  1. CruiseCritic.com, "Boards", "Ports of Call".  Lots of great info.

  2. Well, I thought I would be able to help, but now I'm not sure.  I'll try though!  I went on a cruise to all 3 of these places.  I have also taken separate vacations to Cabo and Puerto Vallarta.  On the cruise, we mainly just hit the beaches.  In Cabo we stayed at the Hilton, which was very nice.  Great pool, atmosphere, everything.  Just expensive prices on snacks and food!  In Puerto Vallarta we stayed at the Westin which was also pretty nice.  Thank GOODNESS for those dehumidifiers in the rooms though!  Had a great pool too.  Little bit older, but still really nice.  Better beach too surprisingly.  However, the Cabo beach we went to on the cruise (it was just like the main beach) was much nicer than the beach we went to on the cruise in Vallarta.  You also have to try out Senor Frogs!  And don't step within 100 feet of a timeshare-salesman (a.k.a. timeshare shark!)  There is also a zipline in Puerto Vallarta!  I don't think you can get into any resorts and go to their pools for just a couple of hours though.  I promise you a good time whatever you decide to do!

  3. I see that you're taking the Disney Cruise line over in Mexico. Niice.

I've been on it... and I'm going again this year. No doubt will you have a really fun time!

    My suggestions:

First of all, set up an excursion with the cruise line. You have no idea how many people get left behind from losing track of time and with a cruise sponsored excursion, no matter what, the boat will wait for you.

Most hotels and resorts don't let you enjoy their pools and other facilities unless you are staying there.

I wouldn't eat or drink unless you're SURE (like a water bottle) where the food is from. Mexico is notorious for food-poisoning.... and that just ruins your vacation.

I don't know about the cliff diver spots.

    Have fun on your vacation!

  4. Mazatlan - definately do the Stone Island tour.  You can book this on your own cheaper then through the cruise line.  Simply wonderful.  If you need info - e-mail me.

Cabo - Sr. Frogs is alot of fun.

Don't bother with the tequilla factory tours- boring and over priced.

We have done this cruise before, and we are going again on Princess in October.  When you are going?
