Question:

Cabo & Puerto Vallarta: Closest beaches to the pier??

I will be taking a cruise to the Mexican Riviera and am interested in going to the beaches in Cabo & Puerto Vallarta. For anyone who has been there before, what beaches do you recommend, and what is the best way to get there? Preferably, I don't want to go too far from where the ship will be docked/tendered.

P.S. The shore excursions that the ship offers don't look very interesting so we're thinking of doing our own thing.

  1. We didn't do any shore excursions on our Mexican Riviera cruise and we had a great time!

Well in Puerto Vallarta we just snuck around some fence (REALLY close to the pier) and I think we were at some hotel's private beach but there were a few other cruise people there and we weren't bothering anyone.  Lol we didn't want to have to pay for the cab to get to their main beach.

Then in Cabo you have to tender.  It sucks lol.  A lot.  Then once you get off the tender there will be cheap little water taxi type boats that will take you to the beach.  It's a very very very beautiful beach.  Kind of like a Caribbean one almost.  The water is so clear that you can see the sand under your feet.

I'm guessing your cruise also goes to Mazatlan?  We went to the beach there too.  Just one right by the town.  It was nice but there was this dead blowfish that washed up.  Kind of cool to see a blowfish um, "inflated?" But I hear they're poisonous.

I would recommend the Canopy Tour/Adventure in Puerto Vallarta.  It has a really cool zipline.  I wanted to do it but my parents are like in their 50's so they aren't too into all the really active stuff.  One of my good friends did the same cruise as me about 6 months later and did this excursion.  She loved it!  Ew but I was actually in PV at the same time as her, but we were staying at the Westin resort.  It was in October and it was SO hot and HUMID out.  That big walk to the zipline must not have been very fun.

Hope I helped a bit :)  I wish I could remember beach names.  Even though this was just last March I have been to about 11 different beaches in many countries since then making it very difficult to remember every single name.
