Cabrera can reach significant milestones in 2013 – MLB Detroit Tigers News

Without a shadow of a doubt, Detroit Tigers’ third baseman Miguel Cabrera is one of the best hitters in Major League Baseball right now. Cabrera dominated the American League Division last season as he posted some imposing stats. Not only did he help the
Tigers make it to the World Series finals but also won the Triple Crown Award for the first time in his career. In fact, he became the first hitter to claim the prestigious award in nearly 50 years.
Cabrera is special, mainly for the reason he possesses unmatchable hitting skills. He looks composed and relaxed every time he steps onto the plate. He has the ability to put pitchers under pressure in crunch situations. Perhaps, this is one of the main
reasons why the Tigers are desperate to pay any price to keep him on board.
“Cabrera leads all players born in 1983 for a chance at the Hall of Fame, according to James' Hall of Fame Monitor. James awards points based on certain achievements, such as playing in an All-Star Game or winning a batting title. A player needs 100 points
to be considered a Hall lock and at least 70 points to have a chance for induction into the Hall. James has Cabrera with 91 points. Tigers ace Justin Verlander, also born in 1983, is given 44 points,” said Julian H. Gonzalez of detroitnews.com.
Now having won the Triple Crown Award and the American League Most Valuable Player Award, the hard hitting striker looks set to reach some significant milestones in 2013. According to baseball analysts, Cabrera has an excellent chance of reaching 3000 hits
in the next season. Right now, the 29 year had 1802 career hits to his name in 10 seasons. According to sources, he is the only player in Major League Baseball with the chance to break Pete Rose’s record of 4000 plus hits.
Until now, Cabrera has hit 321 career home runs. According to Bill James Handbook 2013, he has an 87 percent chance of reaching 500 career home runs. It will be interesting to see if the Tigers’ third baseman can put together another excellent season to
make history.
