are cabs expensive in Puerto Vallarta? i've been told to always ask how much before getting into a cab cuz some like to rip off the tourists. we have some tours booked that require a 25 minute cab fare to get to. and i'm guessing the ride from the airport (we land at PVR airport) to our hotel probably isn't very short either. are we going to be spending a lot of money on cabs?? are there any other cheaper forms of transportation to get around PV? any tips you can offer would be greatly appreciated!!

  1. It cost us about $15 to get from the resort area to downtown (about 20-25 minutes).  Im not sure where your hotel is located.  Also, I don't recommend the buses.  I found the cab drivers to be nice and very helpful, thats how we traveled the entire time.

  2. The buses in Puerto Vallarta are an inexpensive and efficient

alternative to the taxis. If you have several bags the bus from the airport may not be an option.Ask someone at the airport what the fare is to your hotel. The taxis are not really that expensive.Ask someone at your hotel what the taxi fare 'should be' to a particular destination in P.V.They will know....Have a great trip!

  3. If you have any special events to do while you are there, such as sightseeing/Tours, etc. take a cab so you get directly there. And yes, ask the cab driver how much first.  Your hotel will be able to tell you about how much it should be to certain places.  Otherwise, take the bus anywhere else you want to go, it's cheap.  If you like mexican food you must go to PiPi's Rest., it's up the hill a couple streets off the boardwalk.  Also, another great place to eat near the beach to watch the sunset is Hector's Sunset, just ask at hotel or your transportation.  We love it there, always something to do and lots of shopping. If you are taking any tours, a must do if you like boat rides, can't remember what they called it, but you take a cruise out to an island for a nice dinner and a show afterwards.  Whale watching is nice too if in season.  Hope you have a geat time.

  4. The only way to get out of the airport is by the taxis that belong to the airport, unless you want to walk with your bags all the way to the highway and wait for a bus.  That is not good.

At the taxi termianl inside the airport they have the rates from the airport to your hotel.

If you need to take another taxi, later on,  just take it in your hotel.  Ask bell boys about prices.  They all know.

Going from your hotel to Vallarta downtown you could just take the bus.  It is 5.50 pesos.

You did not say what hotel you´re going to stay...

    Good trip.
