The character Orr manages to escape by crash landing and setting himself adrift to Sweden. A recurring question throughout the book was, why was the w***e hitting Orr on the head in Rome with her shoe? The answer was because it helped Orr get to Sweden. I don't understand how it helped Orr get to Sweden. If anyone can explain to me how the act of hitting Orr over the head with a shoe helped Orr get to Sweden i would be very grateful. Thank you.

Happy reading =)

  1. Orr was trying to get a medical discharge, absconding was Plan B

  2. I remember that the w***e's kid sister was hitting Orr on the head with her shoe because Orr asked her to....sorry, don't remember anything else.

  3. As you say the question recurs throughout the book.  The question was what did he do or say to cause the w***e's kid sister to hit him over the head with her shoe.  The actual answer appears at the very end of the book, anything else is supposition.  You have to read the book for it to make sense, not a lot of sense even then.
