Can anyone point to me a classic latin text which pluralizes cactus as cacti? Even in greek in does not pluralize by the os/oi easy route. The latin pluralization of the plant family is NOT cactae, but cactaceae, which would suggest a longer grammatical root! Furthemore, NO romance language uses cacti.
