Caddie Joe Lacava and Coach Sean Foley speaks highly of their compatriot Tiger Woods ahead of Masters
Recommendations and praise are pouring in from all over the world as Tiger Woods baths in the glory of his latest win, the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill, where he ended his longest winless streak of more than two years.
Woods, who started off the final round as the overnight leader, leading the event by one stroke over Northern Irishman Graeme McDowell, maintained his composure throughout the 18-hole stretch and surged to stardom at the latest PGA Tour event.
Woods’ latest win could not have come at a better time as the top-50 players in the world are weighing their options for the first major event of the year the Masters at the revered Augusta National.
Woods’ caddie Joe Lacava said, "Tiger wishes the Masters was tomorrow. Even a guy like that still needs to win to have confidence, so I think it gives him a lot going into Augusta. It proves to him that all the hard work's paid off and he can still get it
done. I don't think he ever doubted himself, but it's nice to win so you can have that self-belief”.
Lacava joined Woods some five months ago when he decided to leave his former boss Dustin Johnson in an unprofessional manner. Woods was criticised for snatching away Lacava without Johnson’s permission but despite the bad air, the duo have done just fine
in the past six months.
Meanwhile, Coach Sean Foley is overjoyed for obvious reasons as he was constantly blamed for all the losses Woods had suffered in the past two years.
Foley said, “I don't need to be validated. It's all a process of learning. I'm happy see him like this, because winning, outside of his kids, is what matters to him most”.
Foley barged on a difficult journey to reinvent Woods’ drive off the tee and received scathing criticism from all nooks and corners.
He continued with his ambitious approach regardless of all the mudslinging and Woods followed his teacher holistically.
Foley, when joined Woods as his swing coach had once vowed to transform Woods into a great driver.
Woods is now back in the top-ten on the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) after almost a year.
He fell out of the top-50 on the OWGR for the first time in 15 years due to his absence from two major titles last year.
