I have a friend whose father got me a job as a caddy for the summer. Im only 14. I have no idea what caddys do except to carry the golfers bags and all that. Also, do i have to give like advice to the golfer if he's having trouble making a shot? like

Golfer: What stick should I use for this hole?

Me: uhh.................

?? what then? will I learn all this?

I heard the pay is pretty high so whats like an average pay?

Do I also have to be a caddy in tournaments?

  1. ok. I used to have a caddie job as well. Generally it is a pretty easy job, that earns good pay. (At least for how old you are).

Most of the time all you need to do is carry the golfers bag and wash his golf ball after every hole. Occasionally the golfer will need some assistance on how to make a shot. Also he may ask you to help him read the green.

ex. the slope of the putt. But that is not very often at all.

The one thing you should make sure you know is how far each of the clubs hit it.

Anyways hope this helps, good luck, and have fun!

  2. Whoever is in charge of the caddies where you'll be working will give you the info needed.

Expect about 10% of what a round costs. More if your golfer does well.

If anybody needs advice from a 14 year old caddy, they shouldn't be golfing.

Pay attention to what they use and the results. You'll catch on.

By the end of the season, you'll be knowledgeable about the course and know a lot more about the game than you do now.

Don't worry. Everybody has to start sometime.

More and more courses demand cart use to speed up play. Yours is a dying profession.  Enjoy it while you can.
