Cadel Evans believes that Team BMC needs an improved performance to battle RadioShack-Nissan
Team BMC is currently holding its training camp near Valencia, Spain, to fine tune for the upcoming races in the season.
Australian key cyclist, Cadel Evans, has briefed that BMC Racing Team needs to work even harder to match other strong teams for the season ahead.
The merger of the top two teams in cycling has resulted in one of the best sides, RadioShack-Nissan, for the 2012 season
Cyclists like Gregory Rast, Benjamin King, Jesse Sergent, Christopher Horner, Andreas Kloden, Fabian Cancellara, Jakob Fuglsang, Andy Schleck and Frank Schleck make it a lethal combination for the coming season.
Team BMC is also a strong side with the Tour de France winner, Cadel Evans leading the squad in the Grand Tours.
Leading cyclists at the World Tour Rankings 2011, Philippe Gilbert will guide the team through the classics.
Other riders in the line-up include, Thor Hushovd, Brent Bookwalter, Manuel Quinziato, and Michael Schar.
Martin Kohler, Marco Pinotti and George Hincapie are also among the top names in the US based team.
Cadel is targeting the yellow jersey at the Tour de France 2012 and suggested that his team needs to put in a stronger effort to meet the competence level of RadioShack-Nissan’s team.
Evans described, "For us as a team, the off-season, camps like this, that's where I think it's going to be important for us to get things functioning well. It's going to be important to be able to take on the [RadioShack-Nissan] team and so on”.
Yellow jersey at the Tour de France 2012 is absolutely Evans top priority, London Olympics being his second plan for the season.
He said, "I want to give myself every chance to go for another medal, because it's something that I don't have. The day the Tour finishes, I will be working 100 percent for the Olympics”.
The 34-year-old finished second at the Tour de France 2007 and 2009. He finally succeeded at the race during his seventh appearance in 2011.
Team BMC is currently participating in the Santos Tour Down Under 2012 and its star rider, Martin Kohler, is leading the stage 2 general classifications.
He is two seconds ahead of the stage one winner, Andre Greipel, with Michael Matthews of Team Rabobank at the third spot.
