Cadel Evans is eager to race in London Olympics and Tour de France 2012 – Cycling News
Cadel Evans showed his interest for the London Olympics which is starting right after the Tour de France 2012. Evans stated that timing is not a problem but the main concern for him is the track and will only participate in the Olympics if it is suitable
for him.
There are two road cycling events included in this year Olympics, the 44 km time trials and 250 km race from London to Surrey as all the cyclists will start together and the first cyclist to cross the line will be the winner and receive the gold medal.
Time trials will be at Hampton Court Palace and their will a difference of 90 seconds amongst the cyclists.
“I don’t know if the course is going to be suitable, but if I can be the man for the job to represent the country, I’d love to ride,” Cadel added. “If it’s more suitable to someone else, it should be someone else.”
Tour de France is mostly dominated by the European cyclists and Evans is only the third non European cyclist to win the most prestigious event of cycling as he won the Tour de France 2011.
Evans said that it was a good Tour for his team and he is now looking ahead to the coming events like World Championships in 2012 and a few of the other Tours on the way. He has to be really choosy and set their priorities right as Tour de France 2012 will
be coming back in no time.
Evans is considered amongst the best time trial and road specialist cyclists and he fully used his skills to win the biggest cycling event, Tour de France.
The 34-year-old has already won a gold medal in the Olympics three times as he participated in mountain bike event in 1996 at Atlanta and Sydney in 2000.
