  1. I agree with the guy above, that is a huge red flag. Have a mechanic come with you to look it over because something must not be right. Even with trucks not moving off lots like they are, that's a really big discount.

Personally, I don't think that's a good deal BECAUSE it's too good. Proceed carefully.

  2. I would search www.edmunds.com or www.kbb.com for some estimates on it's value. Check completed eBay listings for what these vehicles sold in the "real" market. Check www.craigslist.com for simliar models/Escalades for sale and what they are asking. Once you have this information, do your comparison.. Are they offering you any type of warranty or maintenance? Free oil changes? Is the car in great condition? Any known problems? These are all very important when determining the value of a vehicle.

Also, currently you have an upper hand because not many people want to purchase these big trucks because of the gas prices. Your dealer very well might just want to dump it! Keep it in the back of your mind.

PS.. Just be aware of what you will pay in gas alone with that truck.

  3. red flag...that car is selling for half its value...run away!!!!

  4. You want to be cool, don't you? For that price, you get an almost five year old Tahoe (the 09s are coming in now) with 50k miles of baggage and a few extra horses.

I won't even bother suggesting that you look at the price of fill-ups. You can't afford a newer vehicle but you think you can afford $100 every time that thing gets low on fuel?

If you're too dense to heed our warnings, go to the dealer and tell them you'll pay no more than $14,000. With things as they are (you know, with gas prices) dealers are trying to dispense the SUVs that nobody wants.

Don't get me wrong, two of my cars are no better than the Escalade as far as emissions and gas mileage. But I can easily pay for the fill-ups and feel that I balance my vehicles' inefficiency in countless philanthropic and volunteer media (plural of medium).

How do you plan on giving back?
