Caeleb Dressel earns Men’s 100 yard freestyle gold – Speedo Winter Junior Nationals
Caeleb Dressel of Bolles School Sharks earned gold medal of the Men’s 100 yard freestyle on concluding day of the 2012 Speedo Winter Junior National Championships at University of Tennessee, Knoxville on Saturday, December 8.
The 16-year-old Dressel, who entered the final round as second best finisher, met expectations of his supporters in the freestyle discipline and occupied the title.
Dressel faced strong contest from his closest rival but with his impeccable pace, he managed to outsmart him over the wall for the crown by reporting a nice time of 43.29 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Brett Ringgold of North Texas Nada, who stayed only an inch behind and stepped on the medal rostrum for silver medal by producing a nice time of 43.44 seconds.
The silver medallist was followed by Santo Condorelli of Bolles School Sharks, who was 0.26 seconds apart and concluded his race in a wonderful time of 43.70 seconds.
Fourth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Dylan Carter of Davie Nadadores, who remained only 0.14 seconds behind and surfaced on the finishing blockade by touching the wall with fascinating timing of 43.84 seconds.
Similarly, Carter remained 0.44 seconds faster from Wesley Olmsted of High Tide Aquatics, who proved his eligibility for fifth position by touching the wall with an effort of 44.28 seconds.
Sixth position of the discipline was obtained by Julian Ballestas of Metro Aquatic Club, who stayed 0.52 seconds apart and hit the finishing end by producing a time of 44.80 seconds.
Ballestas remained 0.05 seconds faster from David Morgan of Crow Canyon County, who remained prominent for seventh position and ended his race in a time of 44.85 seconds for seventh place.
Last position of the event was obtained by Julian Mackrel of Northern Dutches, who suffered a deficit of just 0.03 seconds from his former finisher and completed his race in eighth place by hitting the wall with the timing of 44.88 seconds.
In addition, Dressel was contented with his top finish in the freestyle discipline and received medal and accolade at the victory ceremony of the tournament.
