  1. Garden salad has - what you find within the garden in it - tomato, cucumber, lettuce, onion, shredded carrots - as I said - pretty much anything that you find in a garden.

Ceasar salad has - romaine lettuce, olive oil, mustard powdered or prepared, fresh crushed garlic - often in olive oil, wine vinegar, lemon juice or lime juice - fresh squeezed, Worcestershire sauce, raw or coddled egg yolks, freshly grated Parmesan cheese, freshly prepared croutons   Some will use anchovy vs. Worcestershire sauce.  Some also use capers.

    That is it.

  2. Caesar salad:

    1 tablespoon olive oil

    1/2 teaspoon minced garlic

1 cup bread, cut in 1/2-inch cubes

    3 hearts romaine lettuce

    1/2 cup Caesar Dressing

    1/2 cup shaved Parmesan

In a large skillet heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the garlic and bread cubes, tossing well to coat with oil. Toast in the skillet for 7 minutes until golden. Tear the romaine hearts into bite size pieces. Toss with the Caesar Dressing making sure to coat all the leaves generously. Garnish with shaved Parmesan and the garlic croutons.

    Garden salad:

    shredded iceberg lettuce

    1 quartered roma tomato

    4 slices cucumbers

    1/4 c. julienned carrots

Place lettuce on plate, take quartered tomato and place on plate. add cucumbers and carrots. top with your favorite dressing and enjoy.

Basically, the difference is that a caesar doesn't have vegetables in it. its just romaine, croutons, parm. cheese,

    and caesar dressing.

  3. Garden salad is usually made with iceberg lettuce with a smaller amount of other veggies to garnish.

Caesar is made with romaine. Caesar is also dressed with a specific dressing made with eggs and anchovies and lemon.

  4. Ceesar Salad is a proper name. It was a salad recipe concocted by an Italian named Caesar Cardini in the US (some say Mexico) back in the 1920's if I am not mistaken. It's ingredients, dressing even preparation are specific. tjere are many variations available today but the basic ingredients and procedure basically remain the same.

    Romaine letuce

    raw egg

    garlic

    olive oil

    capers

    anchovies

    lemon juice

    worcestrershire sauce

    parmesan cheese

    croutons

Garden salad is a generic term for any salad using common garden variety veggies usually but not limited to iceberg lettuce with tomatoes, cucumbers and such (sometimes with hard cooked cheese and even ham slices). It is also dressed according to preference.

thinbk of it as Caesar Salad is like Big Mac or Whopper while garden salad is just the "burger".
