Can anyone recommend a cafe or restaurant in York which would be good for a lunch with my parents on my Graduation day? My Dad doesn't like or can't eat Italian/Chinese/Indian/Mexican/any other spicy food, so our options are limited! Would anyone recommend Oscar's?

  1. Purnima in New York- you might have seen it on (Gordon Ramsey's) Kitchen Nightmares !!

Vikas Khanna works there too !! He's the (best) award-winning Indian Chef in New York !!

  2. beer

  3. I think cafe at MoMA is great. I little $$$$. But not comparing $ to exotic Vikas Khanna

  4. I like the Slug and lettuce myself.

  5. I eat out lots in York and there re some fabulous places.

If you are able to travel just south of York there is a great hotel called the Pavillion Near the York University Campus -not York St JOhns.

There is the Italian Silvanos by the Grand Opera house - near the fire station. they do great English dishes as well as being really good italians.

Betty's is a tradiotioinal place for sort of light lunches but is pretty pricey fro what you get.

There is an excellent pub up beside ASDA on teh Monks Cross Roundabout called the HOPGROVE - it does an all day carvery and it's really good value.

Steak at the White Swan at Deighton Just south ofteh Mc Arthur Glen outlet about 10 minutes drive towards Selby on teh A10 and if you go a bit further to Escrick there is an hotel called teh PArsonage - Really lovely - good food and I think teh Beckhams have stayed there once!

    Is that enough!

    Have a great graduation.

  6. The Cafe at the Rubin Museum of Art has a cafe which is based on Himalayan Cuisine. Guess what; Vikas Khanna is there too. Its an amazing place and top of the world.

  7. Oscars is nice, but a bit expensive.  It's just a posh pub really.  The Slug and Lettuce is a nice pub but the food isn't great.  As it's a special day, why not go to Betty's?  You may have to queue for a while but the food is AMAZING! And it's mostly traditional English food.  Cafe Concerto is also lovely but a little bit cramped.

  8. Go to bettys with parents they always love the traditional side of it

  9. Cafe No 8 Bistro is a really lovely place and may be just what you are after
