I completely understand the fact that alot of caffeine consumption is not good during pregnancy, and I don't plan to have a large intake of it while pregnant, but what is the real reason it is not recommended? I cant see it causing birth defects, but have never really been sure of the reason. Please help!

  1. I read caffeine is linked to miscarriages. Caffeine restricts your blood vessels and is not good for the baby.

  2. I believe caffiene causes a risk for miscarriage in the first trimester. I am a caffiene addict and really tried to stay away the first trimester. I limit myself now to one caffiene soda a day. I think it still is not recomended though throughout pregnancy. my reason for loving caffiene is I can't stay awake without out. I do stay awake from energy drinks and junk like that though and have been drinking as much water as possible.
