Chelsea’s centre back, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gary-Cahill-c14439 has gone on to urge his team to not cave into the off-the-field incidents that are revolving around the club, since he feels everyone should be more focused on performing to their very best.
John Terry has been in and out of a number of issues in recent month, and with the team currently looking to find out just what happened between Mark Clattenburg and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Obi-Mikel-c18882, a number of players are confused over what is going on.
The defender is reported to have said: "Whatever is going on off the pitch, players relish playing football."
Chelsea seem to already be following what Cahill has been trying to get the team to do. They recently went on to beat Manchester United in the Capital One Cup, and are now in the quarter finals stage of the contest. Apart from that, the team is doing rather well in the Premier League and the Champions League.
As a result, Cahill feels that most fans and critics are surprised with the depth and quality that the team has shown this time around.
"The squad is maybe not as big as some others but we have got enough depth in there to cope with the number of games," he added.
"It is going to be a busy period, so resting up is going to be as important as training."
Cahill then went on to reveal that he wasn’t too happy with sitting on the bench in the past, since he joined http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 to prove a point.
However, with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Terry-c18895 on the sidelines, Cahill has been given ample opportunities to prove his worth to the team, and make his way up the pecking order at the club.
"The bench is not where I want to be," he continued.
"It has been frustrating for me at times this season, but I think we rotate the team well and as long as you are getting as much game time as other people and not looked upon as third-choice, then that is fine."
Nonetheless, it is now up to the players at the club to maintain their focus in the coming weeks, and continue to progress from here on.
