Cai Yun, Fu Haifeng power their way to second round of 2012 Li Ning China Open
Men’s Doubles experts Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng plated with great precision and earned a spot in the pre quarter-final round of Li Ning China Open on Wednesday, November 14, 2012.
They cast out Chris Adcock-Andrew Ellis of England with an overwhelming result of 21-9 and 21-10 in the opening match.
This 28-minute tussle took place in Shanghai and a decent number of local badminton lovers assembled to encourage both teams.
The prime Chinese duo Cai Yun-Fu Haifeng, currently World Number five, relished full benefits of home ground and wrapped this showdown in just two games.
Both native shuttlers set the foundation of their dominance immediately in the first set and maintained the upper hand all the way to final moments.
Meanwhile, the British pair failed to forge a fruitful chemistry and crashed out of this Super Series in a woeful manner.
Chris Adcock and Andrew Ellis looked completely confused in front of the higher ranked rivals as they could not claim even a single match point.
In the opening game, they let many points slip from their hands and allowed the opposing team to gain an early advantage.
Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng did not squander this opportunity and established an unassailable lead with 11-5 margin.
Later part of the game was also dominated by them as they carried this flow all the way to game point situation and bagged this valuable match point with 21-9 score on the board.
The following set was just a replay of previous one as the Chinese duo looked at top of the game and cornered Chris Adcock-Andrew Ellis with a staggering knock.
Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng, who are placed at second spot in the tournament ranking, prevailed in five establishing rallies and then strengthened their grip with an indomitable figure of 11.
They kept the opposing team at lower end until last shot was played. This authoritative approach helped them to seal a straight-set victory with 21-10 margin.
This win took them into the pre quarter-final round where they will be locking horns with a newly formed pair Chan Peng Soon-Lim Khim Wah of Malaysia.
