Cai Yun and FU Haifeng clinch Men’s Doubles crown at the 2011 Indonesia Open Premier Super Series
China’s experienced pair of Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng clinched the Men’s Doubles crown after beating younger compatriots, Biao Chai and Zhengdong Guo, in the final of the 2011 Indonesia Open Premier Super Series, at Jakarta, on Sunday, June 26, 2011.
The World Number One pair, Cai and Fu tamed their younger opponents in just 34 minutes with a completely one-sided fight and finished the match in straight-sets, without facing any considerable resistance from Biao and Zhengdong.
In the opening game, Biao and Zhengdong opened their campaign against the experienced opponents in a thrilling manner, as they scored three points in a row to prove that they are determined to win the title. However, Cai and Fu accelerated their speed and
started to control proceedings by playing a fast game.
The score was tied at 9-9 where Cai and Fu got a two-point advantage by reaching at 11-9. After the interval, they continued playing top-class badminton against their shaky opponents, who were making many unforced errors.
The number three seeds, Cai and Fu raced towards their destination and finished the set by a 21-13 margin, in 18 minutes. Biao and Zhengdong were trailing behind as they could not cope up with the accuracy and speed of their rivals in the second-half of
the game.
In the second set, Biao and Zhengdong tried to dominate the game in the starting points, but they lost their control and committed many errors by hitting the bird out of the court or in the net. Cai and Fu were patient and kept the pace of the game in complete
control. They never spared any chance to their younger country-mates to fight back in the game.
Biao and Zhengdong played a nervous game, which allowed Cai and Fu to sail in the second set and finish it in just 16 minutes, with a fascinating margin of 21-12. The 34-minute title-match ended in the favour of Cai and Fu, with a 21-13 and 21-12 score.
