China’s top seeds in Men’s Doubles Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng found a perfect start when they overpowered England’s Chris Adcock and Andrew Ellis to contribute in the victory of their team over English opposition with a 5-0 margin at the Thomas Cup Finals 2012
in China, on Sunday, May 20.
Yun and Haifeng, who are currently World Number One in Men’s Doubles category, put up remarkable show and won their fight against Adcock and Ellis without dropping any set.
The higher ranked Chinese shuttlers did not disappoint their home fans as both players showed their impressive skills and registered a straight-set win over their English opponents by taking 50 minutes in the court.
On the other hand, Adcock and Ellis played good badminton and also matched the pace of their higher ranked Chinese opponents in the second game but failed to win any set and lost the match with a respectable score.
In the opening game, put up phenomenal show when they found a wonderful start and managed to take a superb lead until the one-minute break in the set.
In the meanwhile, the lower ranked Adcock and Ellis failed to find a good flow in the opening rallies of the game and remained struggling.
After the mid-game interval, Yun and Haifeng remained consistent in the positive play and did not spare any chance to stretch their lead.
The Chinese duo remained on track without facing any trouble and secured the first game with a one-sided margin of 21-11.
In the following set, Adcock and Ellis showed their brilliance in the court as they played with impressive precision and remained equal to their higher ranked Chinese opponents.
After the one-minute interval, Yun and Haifeng geared up their speed and managed to take a reasonable lead.
However, Adcock and Ellis did not give up fighting this time and managed to catch up the score by reaching at 20-20.
At this crucial stage, Yun and Haifeng employed their extensive experience and managed to win the set with a tight score of 22-20.
Yun and Haifeng won this entertaining fight in straight games with an interesting 21-11 and 22-20 score on the board.
