Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng grab Men’s Doubles title at the 2012 Korea Open Premier Super Series
China’s ruling World Champions, Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng, went home by swelling with pride as they have grabbed Men’s Doubles title at the Korea Open Premier Super Series on Sunday, January 8, in Seoul, Korea. In the title match, the Chinese duo thrashed the
home favourites Jung Jae Sung and Lee Yong Dae.
The World Number One pair of Yun and Haifeng had to work really hard to chuck out the second seeded Jae Sung and Yong Dae, who are placed at number two in the Men’s Doubles world standings.
The Chinese shuttlers took 78 minutes to win the epic battle in three games and stamped their domination in the world of Badminton.
Jae Sung and Yong Dae played to their maximum potential in the opening set but failed to continue their positive play in the second and third games. They played good badminton but not enough to stop the Chinese rivals from winning the final contest.
In the opening game of this mouth-watering match, the Korean pair delivered superb performance by playing positive and dominating badminton. They remained close against their higher ranked challengers in first half of the set.
After the break, they stretched their lead in by putting pressure on their opponents. Yun and Haifeng played negative badminton and lost the first set with a decent score of 18-21.
In the second game, the Chinese shuttlers displayed wonderful speed and managed to push their opponents on the back foot. They were quicker at the net this time and did not let the Korean opponents to dominate the game in this area.
The aggressive and positive badminton of Yun and Haifeng helped them to level the match by taking the second game with a 21-17 score on the board.
The final set of this superb battle was absolutely thrilling when both sides employed all of their skills to dominate the game. It was a nerve wrecking fight not only for players but also for the Korean crowd that came to support the local pair.
The score remained tight from both sides until the ending stage when Yun and Haifeng employed their experience and managed to score two consecutive points and won the final game with a 21-19 score.
The end result of this 78-minute Men’s Doubles contest was 18-21, 21-17 and 21-19.
