Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng win Men’s Doubles crown in the 2011 Hong Kong Open Super Series
China’s top seeds Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng have won the Men’s Doubles crown after beating their rivals, Jung Jae Sung and Lee Yong Dae of Korea in the title match of the 2011 Yonex Sunrise Hong Kong Open Super Series, in Hong Kong, on Sunday, November 20.
It was the most thrilling fight of the day as two top pairs locked horns to win glory. The world Number One pair of Cai and Fu took a swift revenge of their loss in the French Open Super series to the World Number Two Jae Sung and Yong Dae. This time the
Chinese played better game and emerged as the winners after a close fight.
The Koreans remained in superb control in the first game and took it without any problem with a huge difference. However, the Chinese shuttlers remained lucky in winning the second game with a tight score. They continued their elevated play and emerged as
the winners in the final game with a close difference.
Jung Jae and Yong Dae opened their campaign in a confident way as they spared no chance for their Chinese opponents to dominate the game. They created and maintained pressure on the top seeds throughout the whole opening set. The Chinese duo failed to put
up resistance and lost the set with a margin of 14-21.
The second set was a mouth-watering fight as both sides progressed closely in the match by remaining close. The speed of the game was at the maximum level as both pairs played at their best. The score reached in the concluding phase without highlighting
clear lead for any side.
At the ending moments of the second game, the Chinese pair put up tremendous shoe and scored the winning points by taking it with a 24-22 score.
In the deciding game, the match became more interesting as both sides remained close throughout the set. The Koreans played terrific attacking strokes but failed to earn points because the defence of the rivals grew stronger. Cai and Fu finished up the third
set with a margin of 21-19. The overall result of this title match was 14-21, 24-22 and 21-19.
