They said since he is on the certificate he must sighn and show id that he is the father. Well problem is he is not a citizen totally yet and has his birth certificate from mexico and a picture id but it was issued by the usa. But the people are givin me a hard time cuz its not american. Dam its a valid id and they said i need to ask these people and gave a number. Well those people issued this id for him what the h**l. So how do i get a passport for my baby if the father is no good basically to sighn. Do i need to go to court or something. We planned on getting married in mexico and his father had a heart attack so we need to go asap. I don't need no rude comments either

  1. Sorry you are having so much trouble with this.  I suspect that one big problem is that the father is in the U.S. without a visa.  Does the father have a Mexican Passport?  That would be a big help.  If not, ASK at the passport office what type of I.D. they will accept. If the father has a job at this time, he may be able to use documentation from his work.  Go to the website below and read under # 4.  He may be able to have one or two U.S. citizens who have known him for 2 years vouch for him and sign that they verify his identity.  His boss, co-workers, members of your family, a businessman, someone from church, doctor, landlord..someone who can vouch for his identity is what you need.  In some states, people who are in the U.S. illegally are still allowed to get a drivers license or a state I.D. ( I think in California, but am not sure).  If he could get a state I.d. card that would be great.  I believe the most likely way is to find someone who is willing and able to vouch for his identity....just go over in your mind everyone he has known in the U.S. the past 2 yrs.

    Good luck to you.

  2. get help from an immigration lawyer... usuaclly consultation will be $60 - $ 100.  Good Luck.

  3. Immigration lawyer or one of those helpful offices that give out free information..

  4. Is there a way that maybe you can add dad to the Birth Certificate,  I know that maybe in some states you have to be married, but that may be something you might want to check out in your state.

  5. If the he was born in Mexico, wouldn't you have to go to that government to get the passport? That is where his citizenship is being claimed at. I don't see how the US, can help that, unless he applied for American citizenship. Which is about 5 years?
