  1. First of all look at http://www.cairns.com.au - lot of tourist info.

    Bad, there is no bad things about Cairns in my opinon!  :-)

    There is so much to see and do, very laid back city and amazing adventures.

    Great Barrier Reef Adventures::::

    One day trip -  A trip out on the reef to Green Island - http://www.greatadventures.com.au   or http://www.greenisland.com.au

    or right out on the Outer Reef Activity Platform - with buffet lunch - well worth it !

    About Green Island here - http://www.greenislandresort.com.au

    You can snorkel out on the reef, take a glass bottom boat, do the scoobdo - http://www.scubadoocairns.com  or seawalker http://www.seawalker.com.au/english_site... - all great experiences there is half day trips or full day.

    Cairns is hot and humid (us locals are used to it) During the summer months (December to February), Cairns experiences a high level of humidity and rainfall.  Rain usually occurs in the early mornings, late afternoons, or overnight.

    The temperature in Cairns averages at about 24 ° to 28 ° C (75 ° to 82 ° F) year round.  However, temperatures can reach 30 ° to 35 ° C (86° to 96° F) during the summer months.

    Some beaches such as Trinity Beach, Palm Cove, Clifton Beach provide stinger nets for you to swim in - it is perfectly safe.  Very unlikley you will get stung out on the reef too.  We are lucky if we hear about 2 a year in the papers of someone getting stung.

    Port Douglas is nice - but there is hundreds of international star hotel and resorts to choose from between Cairns and Port D.   Public transport is everywhere in Cairns – although if you are going out on the reef or other tourist attractions, most will pick you up from your hotel.

    Most people stay at Trinity Beach http://www.trinitybeachtourism.com.au or Palm Cove .. http://palmcove.net   type in Trinity beach of palm cove and you will get so many offers of packages, reef trips, car accommodation in one.  Trinity Beach and Palm Cove is about 15-20mins to the city.

  2. humid , hot, wet, not the best time o the year . some areas around cairns get roads cut off because of flooding. best time , June or July . well worth going magic place

  3. No bads except the hot and humid weather in December i went in christmas last yr and it was soooo hot!!!

    but te best place to go fora holiday im going back this year i wouldnt miss it for the world... must go see the daintree rive and forest!!!

    And you must swim in the Mossman gorge i would stay away from the beaches in summer due to deadly jelly fish other then that best place in AUZZ to holiday for me....

  4. Very good position to explore places like the Daintree , Atherton Tablelands and Green Island. ****ING HOT and HUMID

  5. I sort of answered your question in your jelly fish question.

    As I said in that post Cairns in December is not as nice because of the wet season and the jelly fish.If you do not mind the rain it is OK because things like accommodation would be cheaper.I can recommend Kuranda scenic tour in the rainforest,Daintree,a Reef tour and Mossman.
