Caitlin Leverenz conquers Women’s 400m IM title in Georgia: 2011 USA Swimming Winter Nationals
Young gun of United States of America, Caitlin Leverenz bulldozed her rivals on the second evening session of the 2011 USA Swimming Winter Nationals, in Atlanta, Georgia, on Friday, December 2. Leverenz grabbed Women’s 400m Individual Medley title.
Caitlin was battling against the strongest challengers in the puddle. More importantly, Leverenz got off to a sensational start in the final race and drew the attention of spectators in the arena due to her impressive turns in the pool against her opponents.
Consequently, Caitlin Leverenz went on to clinch the Women’s 400m Individual Medley title by bashing the finishing divider in a winning blot of 4 minutes and 37.68 seconds.
Leverenz was the gold medallist in 200m breast-stroke meet at the 2007 Pan American editions. In addition, she won two bronze titles in 200m and 400m Individual Medley meets at the 2010 Pan Pacific editions, in Irvine. Currently, Caitlin Leverenz is training
hard under her veteran swimming coach for the next year’s Olympic Games, in London.
In the meantime, Olympic medallist, Julia Smit captured the attention of the arena due to her versatile turns in the swimming puddle and secured silver medal in the respective race by claiming the finishing barricade in a stunning mark of 4 minutes and 40.47
seconds. Smit snagged silver title in 4x100m freestyle at the 2008 Olympic Games, in Beijing. Additionally, she claimed four gold medals at the 2007 Pan American editions, in Rio. Moreover, Smit took home two gold titles at the 2011 Pan American Games, in
Guadalajara.
Meanwhile, the bronze title was taken over by Kathryn Hoff of Fast Swim Team in a matchless time of 4 minutes and 41.46 seconds. Hoff was the silver medallist in 400m freestyle at the 2008 Olympics, in Beijing. Besides, she has claimed many gold titles in
the World and Pan Pacific Championships. Al Komarnycky of Island Swimming earned fourth place honour in the respective splash by claiming the finishing barrier in an impressive mark of 4 minutes and 44.01 seconds, while the fifth spot went to Celina Li of
Pleasanton Seaha in a time of 4 minutes and 47.58 seconds, respectively.
Rattler Swim Clu’s athlete, Andrea Kropp got sixth position by claiming the finishing blockade in a time of 4 minutes and 47.69 seconds, whereas, the seventh place honour went to Hal Flickinger of York YMCA-MA in a spot of 4 minutes and 48.48 seconds.
Stepha Horner of Island Swimming and Elizabeth Beisel of University of FI claimed eighth position in the respective swim by banging the finishing divider in a matching time of 4 minutes and 48.63 seconds, while Hanna Pierse of Van Dolphins settled at tenth
place in a time of 4 minutes and 49.81 seconds.
