Caitlyn Forman and Michael Scheid Jr win swimming events - High School State Championships, Kentucky
Caitlyn Forman of NDA and Michael Scheid Jr of STX dictated terms to their rivals by winning gold medals of the 100yard backstroke in Girls and Boys corner respectively on final day of the Kentucky High School State Championships for Boys and Girls in Louisville on February 26.
The 12-year-old Forman stayed comfortably ahead of her challengers and captured gold medal of the backstroke discipline by clocking a time of 53.94 seconds. She remained nearly two seconds ahead of Asia Seidt of NOLD, who followed her on the finishing end by posting a time of 55.62 seconds for silver medal.
Hannah Magnuson of CAL remained just 0.15 seconds behind her former finisher and hit the finishing end with an effort of 55.77 seconds for bronze medal.
Next was the equivalent event in Boys corner, where Scheid Jr smothered his opponents and clinched gold medal of the discipline with an effort of 51.17 seconds. He remained 0.73 seconds ahead of Hunter Pasek, who touched the finishing end for silver medal by submitting a time of 51.90 seconds.
The third position of the race was obtained by Heyward Harrison of STX, who was just 0.19 seconds slower from Pasek and reported an effort of 52.09 seconds.
The third event of the session was Girls 100yard breaststroke, where Miranda Mercke of SHA served notice of her talent and earned her way to the victory stand for the title of the event with the timing of 1 minute and 03.83 seconds.
She enjoyed an advantage of 0.26 seconds over her subsequent competitor, Kennedy Lohman of KCD, who settled on the concluding wall for second position by producing a time of 1 minute and 04.09 seconds.
With her astounding effort, she remained 0.57 seconds faster from Annie Davies of BEE, who earned bronze medal of the discipline by hitting the wall with a timing of 1 minute and 04.66 seconds.
The arena enjoyed wonderful efforts of all swimmers whereas the podium finishers were awarded accolades for their remarkable accomplishments at medal ceremony of the championship. In addition, the championship ended after the conclusion of all scheduled events.
