Question:

Caius the Shadow Monarch II?

Okay, so it has been established that Caius the Shadow Monarch's effect does not supercede Torrential Tribute or Ring of Destruction ( so an opponent could activate their trap before Caius' effect resolves ) and that Caius must activate his effect upon Tribute Summon.

However, I've one final question. If trap cards like Torrential Tribute have the same spell speed as Caius' effect, can they activate simultaneously? That is to say, if I summon Caius, and an opponent activates Torrential Tribute, could I destroy Caius with his own effect as Torrential Tribute resolves in order to inflict 1000 damage to my opponent? Or if my opponent has 2 face-down Spell / Trap cards when they activate Torrential Tribute ( in response to my summong Caius ), can I still remove from play one of their face-down Spell / Trap cards before Caius is destroyed by Torrential Tribute?

Sorry for all of these Caius questions, its just... been bothering me.

[ thanks XD ]

  1. While i'm not 100% sure(havent played in months) most card effects must be designated at activation. This means choosing caius's designated target then they chain to it. Same with mobius have to pick its 2 targets(or not) before the opponent activates anything

  2. YES!!!

  3. heres now it all plays out.

First you tribute to summon caius.

Next you chose a card to remove from play.

Then they get a chance to respond.

If they respond a chian starts, thier effect reovles first.

Then Cais does his effect, and CANNOT change targets.

    So in your case

    summon caius

    target thier face down T.T.

    they chian it

    Caius is destroyed

There is no longer a T.T for Caius to remove.

Caius can not change targetss to himself

    The play is over.
