Caixa Eletronica and Ron The Greek in contention to win the Whitney Handicap
The Grade 1 Whitney Handicap is anxiously awaited, as some of biggest names will be competing in this event at Saratoga on 4th August, 2012, over the course of 1 1/8 miles.
The Todd Pletcher trained, Caixa Eletronica, will be looking to keep his good form going. The versatile seven-year-old runner has adapted to different distances over the course of his career.
The last time he tackled the 1 1/8 mile distance was in April, 2012, when he competed in the Grade 2 Charles Town Classic at Charles Town, where he notched a brilliant victory over Duke Of Mischief and completed the race in 1 minute and 50.28 seconds.

After that, the Repole Stable owned runner went to finish fourth in the Metropolitan Handicap, won the six furlong Grade 2 True North Stakes and settled fifth in the Grade 3 James Marvin Stakes, which covered a distance of seven furlongs.
There is no doubt about the runner’s ability, since he has proved to have superior racing skills time and time again.

With an overall record of 18-7-11 in 55 starts, he collected $1,398,705 and will be aiming for more glory in this race.
Of course, the older division runner will not have an easy race, since other runners have devoted themselves for making it difficult for him to win.
These runners include Ron The Greek, who is trained by Bill Mott for owners, Jack T. Hammer, Brous Stable and the Wachtel Stable.
The five-year-old comes to the track with experience and an impressive record of 7-4-1 in 19 starts and earnings of $1,112,597.

The distance will not be a problem for him, as he is comfortable with it and claimed a victory at this distance on 16th June, 2012.
With rider Jose Lezcano, he participated in the Grade 1 Stephen Foster Handicap at Churchill Downs and clocked the distance in 1 minute and 50.51 seconds.
Prior to this, the son of Full Mandate finished as a runner-up over this distance in the Grade 2 Oaklawn Handicap and claimed the Grade 1 Santa Anita Handicap over 1 ¼ miles.
Both these runners will be in contention, and it will be tough for both of them to land the race. Things look better for Ron The Greek as he is in better shape and is motivated to add another victory to his record.
