Caixa Eletronica to go through Bold Ruler to get into the Cigar Mile at Aqueduct next month
The Grade 3, $100,000 Bold Ruler Handicap is the final graded stakes of the Belmont Park fall meet, and Mike Repole owned and Todd Pletcher trained 6-year-old horse Caixa Eletronica is pointed toward that race on 29 October, 2011, at Belmont Park.
The Bold Ruler Handicap is the prep race for the Grade 1 Cigar Mile at Aqueduct next month, and if Caixa Eletronica hadn’t been pointed to the Cigar Mile, he would’ve been at Churchill Downs preparing for the Grade 1, $1 million Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile.
The son of Arromanches, out of Edyta by Skip Away, Caixa Eletronica is coming off a third place finish in the Grade 1 Vosburgh Invitational at Belmont Park on 1 October, 2011, over at 6 furlongs on dirt.
Under jockey J Lezcano, the Kentucky bred runner couldn’t go past the top two runners Giant Ryan and Force Freeze.
Prior to the Vosburgh, Caixa Eletronica participated in two started handicap races, and went on to win them both. Both were at Saratoga and the first one was run over at six furlongs and the second at 1 1/8 miles.
His best performance of the season came in the Grade 3 Westchester over at a mile at Belmont Park on 30 April, 2011, under jockey C Velasquez.
Caixa Eletronica downed his opponents in the mile long race, as edged past Convocation and Schoolyard Dreams, who finished second and third respectively, covered the distance in 1 minute and 34.26 seconds.
The 6-year-old runner was coming off a win in the Grade 3 Westchester, in an allowance claimer also at about a mile at Gulfstream Park on 9 March, 2011, under jockey L Saez.
Caixa Eletronica covered the distance in 1 minute and 35.11 seconds. Hunters Bay and Jaguar Paw finished second and third, respectively.
He was claimed by Mike Repole and Todd Pletcher for $62,500 in March at Gulfstream, and started paying off the money by winning the Grade 3 Winchester and then turning in a 3rd place finish in the Grade 1 Metropolitan Handicap (Met Mile) at Belmont
Park on 30 May, 2011, under jockey C Velasquez.
