Cake's expiration date

Can you still eat cake 4 days after the expiration(check spelling) date if it has been sitting in the refrigerator for 1 week?

if it is a pre-made cake you bought from the store, it should be fine. the date is usually a sell by date for freshness. it won't make you sick, but it might be a little stale
