Question:

Cake-baking question - leaving the cake to cool

I'm baking a cake for the first time in 10 years (eek!)

I have to buy the cake tins and everything, but do I really need the cooling tray? Can the cakes just be left to cool in the tins, and then pulled out when cool? I'm not made of money, and I rarely bake cakes (obviously), so don't want to spend money unless I have to.

Thanks in advance!

  1. The cooling rack is not necessary. Cakes can in fact cool in the tins they were baked in, only it would take a long time to do so. The cooling rack was made to make this time go by faster by allowing more air flow around the cake. If you're not in any hurry to frost and eat the cake, you don't need the racks. But if you're planning to really make a beautiful cake, I recommend a rack. Let your cakes cool first before frosting because it would only melt the frosting if you don't.

  2. Hello

No you dont have to but i suggest you take it out & sit it on a plate so it dose not go all soggy. (: have fun cooking

  3. You can pull out the extra oven rack before you start, when cake is dunn, let sit 5 min, then turn over on rack, much easyer to get out of the pan,

  4. No need for the cooling rack...unless u r in a hurry to devour the cake.

You can let it cool in the tin n then go for it!

    Happy Baking.
